This year, the grocery store chain and its charitable foundation, based in Salisbury, NC, have gone far and beyond in their support of Food Shuttle programming with multiple generous grants, donations, and ongoing support. In total, Food Lion has provided over $142,000 in funds and thousands of dollars in gift cards and product to support the Food Shuttle’s efforts to end hunger.

Helping and Healing Hearts, Inc. Food Pantry Opens in Johnston County

Helping and Healing Hearts, Inc. offers Johnston County residents the opportunity to get free non-perishable and perishable food items once every 30 days. Thanks to grant funding, residents of the county can also apply for assistance with rent and utilities. Applications are available at the pantry, located at 804 E. Market St. in Smithfield, NC 27577. The pantry is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

My Experiences as an AmeriCorps Member at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle

My name is Carly and I am an AmeriCorps Food Distribution Associate serving at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. Thanks to a partnership between the Conservation Trust for North Carolina and the NC Commission on Volunteerism, my position was created in response to the coronavirus pandemic to assist the Food Shuttle with getting food into the hands of individuals and families that need it.
