The Food Shuttle and the Back Yard Foundation Making a Difference Together

The McLauchlan family started the Back Yard Foundation to make an impact in their own backyard through giving efforts in education, health, arts and culture, and essential living gifts. They’ve recently joined as supporters of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle with the understanding that our missions for the good of our community align so well.

“Our family chose to support the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle because we love their model to not only feed, but to teach and build up others in learning new abilities to grow their own food and develop food security skills,” said Cara McLauchlan, the Direction of  the Back Yard Foundation. “We love how the Food Shuttle combines so many of our family foundation priorities of education and essential living care, with developing abilities to care for the community for a lifetime.”

Cara joined us for a visit to the Food Shuttle Farm one recent morning and toured about our 14 acres, led by Vice President of Agriculture Charles Parrish and Production Manager Ben Paulson. She received an upclose look at the early spring planting in the fields and the greenhouse and learned some background on our sustainable farming methods.

“We are honored to receive this support from the McLauchlan family and the Back Yard Foundation for the Food Shuttle’s agricultural education programs,” shared Charles Parrish. “We welcome this opportunity to further empower community members with knowledge and skills for sustainable, healthy living through outdoor learning and growing. The support of individuals and organizations like the Back Yard Foundation enhances the impact of our programs, and we look forward to putting these funds toward realizing our vision of a hunger free community.”
