Inter-Faith Food Shuttle has been certified as a Service Enterprise by Points of Light - the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. With this certification, the Food Shuttle joins a prestigious group of nonprofits committed to effectively delivering on our mission by strategically engaging volunteer time and talent. This places us in the top 11% of nonprofits nationwide in volunteer management and organizational performance. We are one of 18 Feeding America food banks to earn this certification.
The Service Enterprise Certification was presented October 11 by Mike Sweeney and Barbara Thomas from the Triangle Nonprofit & Volunteer Leadership Center, the organization that worked with the Food Shuttle to complete the training necessary to earn the rating. Susan Meador, Director of Volunteer Services, recalls proudly: “The Volunteer Services Team began this journey back in 2019. After 16 hours of training, a pandemic, staff changes, 16 more hours of training for new staff, coaching, and system and document collection, the Food Shuttle has earned its certification! Volunteer Engagement takes all of us and we’re doing it! ”
Here is a quote from the representative at Points of Light who approved the certification application: “It was a pleasure to review this application which highlighted the strong relationships that have been developed between staff, volunteers, and neighbors, the belief of senior leadership that volunteers are the heartbeat of the organization, and the fact that all of the volunteers interviewed reported LOVING Inter-Faith Food Shuttle! ...That 'the staff made me feel that my volunteer effort was important and valuable' speaks volumes. Points of Light is proud to officially certify this remarkable organization for the next three years, through the end of 2025.”
Congratulations to our Volunteer Services team for this impressive accomplishment. Deepest thanks to the wonderful volunteers who choose to spend their time contributing to the Food Shuttle's mission to create a hunger free community.
