A Message From Our CEO

Dear Friends,

I am thrilled to share with you that we are days away from what many thought impossible to do in today's climate. With the recent events of the pandemic and its impact on our community, economy, and neighbors, many non-profits thought it unimaginable to create a plan while we still face so many uncertainties. Together, members of our board, staff, local non-profit leaders, community members from the health industry, local corporations, volunteers, donors, and clients participated in and have completed our Strategic Planning Initiative that will direct our growth forward over the next five years.

We are very grateful to the moss+ross team for facilitating this process, making it an amazing experience for all the community members involved. Their leadership and guidance aided us in developing what will be our pathway forward as we navigate our services through the evolving aftermath of COVID-19.

In addition to this great body of work, we also introduced several new and innovative initiatives. Our food truck, The Spinning Plate, was launched--designed and equipped to support natural disaster response in North and South Carolina. While throughout the year, it will deliver hot meals to local communities in food deserts, it will also serve as a social enterprise to support ongoing program initiatives making them self-sustaining.

Our 14-acre Food Shuttle Farm, now recognized as a local food resource, will scale up to produce culturally diverse foods that will reduce our food purchasing costs and reduce food waste by tailoring production specifically for distinct communities.

I remain grateful and honored to be a part of the legacy that our founders believed would empower and improve the quality of life for all our neighbors throughout the communities we serve.

Yours in service,

L. Ron Pringle

President and CEO
