Chick-fil-A Gives $50,000 to the Food Shuttle to Fight Child Hunger

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle was pleased to receive a generous grant of $50,000 from the Chick-fil-A Foundation to continue their efforts to fight child hunger. The funding was provided as part of the Chick-fil-A Foundation’s $3M commitment to Feeding America to support Child Hunger programs in honor of new Chick-fil-A restaurants opening across the country. The first $25,000 of the grant was awarded in August 2020, with the final $25,000 coming in December of last year.

Thanks in part to the grant from Chick-fil-A, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle has continued to provide hunger-relief programming for children and families through their partnerships with schools without interruptions, in spite of the uncertainty caused by COVID-19. The funding has helped to underwrite the cost of Family Meal Boxes, which provide 16-18 pounds of nutritious shelf-stable dry goods and nutrition education/kids activity flyers. Designed for families with school-age children and easily delivered through no-contact distribution in coordination with school partners, each box contains food products for approximately 15.5 individual meals. This provides much-needed relief and hope for children and families who need it most, as the pandemic continues to ravage our communities.

Created out of a desire to honor Chick-fil-A , Inc. founder Truett Cathy’s legacy of giving, goodwill, and passion for supporting youth, the Chick-fil-A Foundation seeks to nourish potential in every child, especially in the areas of education, homelessness, and hunger. This approach pairs perfectly with the core philosophy of the Food Shuttle’s child hunger staff: “Our school partners are there for the kids, and we are there for our school partners.” Never has this been more true than now as they continue to engage in the long-term recovery effort from COVID-19. The Food Shuttle is grateful to the Chick-fil-A Foundation for the support that ensures these efforts can continue.
