Inter-Faith Food Shuttle welcomes the newest member of their Board of Directors: Erica Henderson. Erica Henderson is currently the Director of Non-Profit Organization Engagement and Public Affairs with the Public Policy team at GlaxoSmithKline {GSK). In this role, she is responsible for working with the Public Policy and Government Relations teams to successfully develop a US engagement policy for non-profit third party engagement as well as the development of a proactive public affairs strategy and campaign to identify tactics and materials to facilitate the discussion in shaping the future of healthcare.
Prior to joining GSK, Erica held various financial roles with increased responsibilities at Johnson & Johnson and Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey.
Erica is proud of the strong values that her parents have instill ed in her to be humbled by the blessings she has received and always to be willing to help those who sometimes cannot help themselves. She has been a core team member for several years with the back-to-school backpack event at the Durham Rescue Mission. "This event always brings joy to my heart because of the excited reactions and smiles from the kids when they receive their brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies," says Erica. "I am looking forward to serving on the board with the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and continuing to help support our local communities which include children, seniors and families to 'Feed, Teach and Grow' in the fight against hunger."
Erica join s a varied group of board members from throughout the Triangle. Board Chair Bob Alger is eager to welcome her to their number and their work on behalf of the Food Shuttle. "Upon meeting Erica, I was immediately impressed with her. She has a lot to offer in skills and passion for the mission. I am looking forward to working with her as we serve more food insecure neighbors in North Carolina."
Erica is a graduate from Rutgers -- the State University of New Jersey--with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She is a proud active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and enjoys spending time with family and friends. She relocated to the Raleigh Durham area from New Jersey in 2010 and currently resides in Cary, North Carolina.
