September is Hunger Action Month: a time when the Feeding America network and the national public come together to raise awareness and help our neighbors facing the impossible choices of hunger. With an understanding of the economic and health impacts that COVID-19 has left on our community, we believe it’s more important than ever to bring attention to the reality of food insecurity in central North Carolina.

Christy Perrin and her seven-year-old son Donovan started raising chickens. But when one raises chickens, one eventually ends up with eggs. So, when the eggs came along, Christy and Donovan decided to sell them and raise money for charity, and their charity of choice was Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

Brand new crops are popping up at the Food Shuttle Farm this year include poblano and cayenne peppers, tomatillos, and chayote squash. These crops are grown specifically for the Latinx community served through Food Shuttle distribution outlets.
