Inter-Faith Food Shuttle prides itself on creating innovative, sustainable solutions to hunger, but we can’t do it without the support of our community. That’s why our Erase Hunger back-to-school partnership is so exciting!
Over the past week, WRAL has aired a variety of interviews with Food Shuttle staff and volunteers. These interviews have highlighted many of our amazing programs and drawn attention to the problem of hunger among certain populations. We are so grateful to WRAL for this opportunity to share our mission and stories with the community!
This partnership kicked off on Thursday, August 10th with an interview featuring Shirley Monroe, our Child Hunger Programs Manager. She shared about our School Choice Pantry program and how this program is providing hungry families with healthy food in a welcoming environment. Watch her interview here. On Friday, Food Shuttle President and CEO Ron Pringle was interviewed about child hunger in our area. He explained how hunger can negatively impact children’s performance in school and shared how the Food Shuttle’s Child Hunger Programs are working to solve this problem. Finally, Friday’s interviews highlighted food insecurity among older adults raising their grandchildren. Andrea Kerley, our Community Health Education Programs Coordinator, explained how Food Shuttle programs are serving both seniors and children. Watch her interview here.
