Talking about a #HungerFreeNC

THE #HungerFreeNC CONVERSATION HAS BEGUN!

A HUGE thank you to each of our volunteers, sponsors, donors, and everyone who helped spread the word during our groundbreaking week (July 21-25) of raising awareness and funds, along with WRAL and  Radio One - Raleigh stations, K97.5, Foxy 107.1/104.3, and The Light 103.9.

Capping off a week of programming and fundraising on WRAL-TV and  Radio One, July 25th marked the first-ever day-long MEDIAthon to benefit Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. Thanks to the combined efforts of many, we raised over $112,000 in addition to raising our community's awareness  of who is hungry, and why.

The 2014 #HungerFreeNC MEDIAthon has come and gone, but the #HungerFreeNC movement is just beginning. Scroll down to catch up on this important conversation and add your voice today!

A Place At The Table

"A Place at the Table" is a powerful documentary about hunger in America that truly paints the picture of what it means to be food insecure in this country - to not always know where your next meal will come from. The film vividly illustrates how lack of income and lack of access to fresh healthy food are the root causes of hunger and its companion, obesity. Here in North Carolina, one in four children is at risk of hunger. Watch via Netflix, Hulu Plus, and iTunes.

WRAL documentary: Hungry for Answers

Hungry for Answers” is a half-hour documentary, hosted and narrated by WRAL News anchor Debra Morgan, that looks at the issue of food insecurity and hunger in North Carolina. It profiles someone who has struggled with the issue, examines some of its causes and explores possible solutions. Watch the full documentary here on WRAL.com.
