INTER-FAITH FOOD SHUTTLE’S CHILD HUNGER INITIATIVES FOCUS ON MEETING THE NUTRITIONAL NEEDS OF CHILDREN IN TIMES WHEN THEY NEED IT MOST.

Our INITIATIVES are designed to fill in the gaps on weekends and at home.

BackPack Buddies is based on the national Feeding America model. Through partnerships with local schools, we help to alleviate child hunger by providing children in need with nutritious and kid-friendly food at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. 

School Choice Pantries tackles child hunger through the provision of food to children and their families.  School-based pantries are located on the grounds of schools, or other convenient, familiar, and safe locations for children.  A School Choice Pantry is intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to students and their families.

Food drives support many of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s hunger relief programs. The shelf-stable items our neighbors donate are packed into Grocery Bags for Seniors, stock School Pantries, provide nutritious meals for Mobile Markets, and so much more.  You can help build up the foundation for the foods we provide to our neighbors in need by holding a food drive with your own community—and we’ll help every step of the way!

Now, at the ripe age of 7 years, Charlie has come up with a new way of supporting the hunger relief effort that is so close to his heart. He and his brother, 4-year-old Ford, recruited several of their neighborhood friends to host a lemonade stand to benefit BackPack Buddies. The boys and their friends wanted to do something for their peers going back to school to help them start off on the right foot.
