Hot Off The Press: IFFS 2014 Growing Report

Some organizations call it an Annual Report.

We call it a GROWING Report.

We’re excited to share our 2014 “Growing Report” with you, hot off the presses! Hunger is a complex issue that requires a complex solution. Reflecting on the year reveals how our many programs worked collaboratively towards defeating hunger in our community, where sadly the need remains very real.

In keeping with our tagline “We Feed. We Teach. We Grow.” our 2014 Growing Report beautifully illustrates the true difference made by our volunteers, donors, staff, and partners in the fight against hunger.

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle has no single large funder—almost three-quarters of our revenue is generously donated by individuals, businesses, and family foundations. We are truly a grassroots organization with grassroots support, where a gift of any amount can truly make a difference.

WE FEED: 40% of the 6.5 million pounds of food we rescued in 2014 was produce. Over 57,000 people were fed each month by various IFFS programs.

WE TEACH: Almost 12,000 people benefited from our teaching programs in nutrition education, culinary job training, and agricultural training.

WE GROW: IFFS created access to healthy food in 196 community sites throughout our 7 counties.

And of course, none of this would have been possible without over 4,200 volunteers spending a total of 64,500 volunteer hours to help run our programs. Your support inspires us day in, and day out.

It’s overwhelmingly clear from our Growing Report that our generous donors, volunteers, and partners had a remarkable, positive impact on the hungry neighbors we serve in our seven-county footprint. A warm, heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who support us in so many ways. Here’s to creating a #HungerFreeNC in 2015.

Building a food secure community together,
